Critical Chemistry - Accessibility & Design Updates

We’ve completed a comprehensive update to Critical Chemistry courses to meet current accessibility standards while improving the overall student experience. This update introduces a refreshed design, improved functionality across devices, and full accessibility support across all course components.

Course Availability

All new course sections created on or after April 24, 2026 will include the latest version of Critical Chemistry.

Important:

  • Existing active sections will remain unchanged to avoid disrupting student progress
  • Updated content is not automatically applied to courses already in progress

If you have a student who needs access to the updated, accessible versions of specific lessons, we can provide access on a case-by-case basis.

Overview of Updates

Modernized Design & Responsive Layout

All lessons have been updated with a cleaner, more modern design. In addition to visual improvements, content is now responsive, meaning it adapts to different screen sizes.

This allows students to access lessons across:

  • Desktops and laptops (recommended)

  • Tablets

  • Mobile devices

While mobile and tablet access is supported, we still recommend that students use a desktop or laptop for the best experience.

Browser recommendation: Chrome is recommended, though Edge, Firefox, and Safari are supported.

Accessibility Improvements

All lessons now meet key accessibility requirements. Updates include:

  • Full keyboard compatibility

  • Touch-friendly interactions

  • Support for screen readers

All simulations and interactive elements in Critical Chemistry have been fully updated to be accessible.

Content Updates

In addition to design and accessibility improvements, we’ve made a series of minor updates and refinements throughout the course to improve clarity, usability, and overall student experience.

There are no major structural changes to lessons or units. The overall flow and content of the course remain consistent with previous versions.
