How to find organisms in Unit 3: World Biodiversity Expedition

Below is an example of the Yellowstone National Park lesson where you will be able to explore to find organisms. Once within a location lesson, you’ll see a map. Click on a white dot to zoom in to search for organisms. Once you’re zoomed into the area, click on a dot to reveal which organism lives there.

After you click on an organism dot you will see a description of the organism that lives there. 


Scoring


The total number of points you can earn for Unit 3: World Biodiversity Expedition is 1000.

In this activity, you will be given 10 sets of traits that you will use to locate a specific organism(s) at one of six sites located in different biomes. Once you find the organism, you will place it in a master phylogenetic tree based on its traits.

You get 50 points for each organism you successfully classify and 50 points for each organism you place accurately on a phylogenetic tree.
