Argos Is No Longer Available
Here’s Where to Access Your Courses
Throughout 2025, Inspark, Infiniscope, and the Center for Education Through Exploration (ETX) have worked with institutions and instructors to transition all lessons, courses, users, and authoring projects from Argos to our updated instance of the Torus platform, called Proton.
If you arrived at this page after trying to visit app.argos.education, that’s because Argos has been retired, and all teaching, learning, and authoring now take place on Proton.
👉 The new platform URL is: https://proton.oli.cmu.edu
Proton and Argos run on the same underlying platform (Torus). The move to Proton simply shifts your work to a newer, fully supported instance — your course setup, LMS integrations, content, and student experience all function the same way as before.
Where Should I Go Now?
If you use an LMS (Canvas, Blackboard, D2L, Moodle):
DO NOT sign in on the Proton website.
Instead:
-
Go to your LMS course.
-
Click the external tool labeled either OLI Torus or Proton.
-
This launch creates your Proton account automatically (if needed) and takes you to your course.
If you do NOT use an LMS:
Please contact support and we will help you access Proton or set up your course manually.
Do I Need a New Account?
-
With an LMS:
Proton creates your account the first time you click the Torus/Proton tool link. -
Without an LMS:
Reach out to us so we can guide you through account setup in Proton.
How Do I Create Course Sections on Proton?
The course creation process is the same as it was on Argos. Check out our KB articles for specific instructions.
